Proof Ashley Young shouldn't start ever (If you needed!)
No. 10 is still a worry. Up for grabs with nobody wanting to grab it

United have turned up sporadically season; they haven't had a consistent period of results and performance or results or performances. Sigh. Consistency isn't a word you'd associate with this United team.
Having said that, this is the most improved phase we are going through. After that abysmal match against Newcastle, we've played 7 games, won 5 , drew 1, and lost 1 against Bournemouth. Hence, this game was important, especially before the international friendlies. Firstly, we had to win this game and secondly, play some good attacking football! Thankfully, both of them happened. 3-1 might seem like a strong score, but people who saw the match know, it should have been a much bigger margin!
The biggest reason for this bit of consistency is the front line producing goals. Till the Newcastle game, we weren't able to score more than 1 goal/match this season (except for the season opener which clearly stands out as a blip) and in 4 of the last 5 games, we scored 2 or more goals. Either Martial or Rashford has been on the score-sheet every game since Newcastle United. The game today showed the growing chemistry among the front 3. Lewis Dunk and Dan Burn are gonna have ghastly nightmares about Dan James running directly towards them after that game. The Welshman's performance level has hardly dipped and unfortunately for his former Swansea coach Graham Potter, it rocketed against Brighton. While our defense has been filled with individual errors this season, it was fulfilling to see an academy graduate step up to debut in an important game and not put a foot wrong. He didn't go on tour, wasn't named among youngsters set to play in Europa League and Ethan Laird was even name-checked as a prospect. Yet Williams is the first academy teenager to start in a meaningful league game. And now we all hope, we don't have to see Ashley young so often! Equally impressive display was put forward by Fred! That game goes down as his best performance in a United jersey. As the boss mentioned, he probably was the catalyst for today's game. He was involved in 2 out of the 3 goals, with brilliant passing and also contributing with 9 ball recoveries. This could well turn out to be his flipping point (we sure hope so!).
Even with all the positives on the attacking front, we know Rashy should be scoring more. He sometimes reminds me of Benzema. While we love you a lot, we can't make up our minds on what to do with those misses! As in the game against Partizan, Rashford managed to miss a complete sitter (which definitely will compete to be the biggest miss of the season) while also owning that left flank. Mata showed against Partizan, what a classic No. 10 adds to this United set up. Perreira somehow doesn't look up to the mark, unless he shows some real improvement. These small blips aside, Injury to Scotty has to the biggest negative of the game. We hope it's a small injury and he comes back alive and kicking to play against Sheffield United. His consistency has been the need of the hour for this team searching to look upto players!
